Phil entered the title industry in 1976, learned the title insurance business from the ground up in Northern California and has served in a variety of management and senior technical roles. In 1990, Phil joined First American’s Home Office Senior Underwriting Staff as Vice President and Associate Senior Underwriter. During this time Phil was the developer of First American’s innovative title information software program entitled the “Underwriting Library.” From 1996 to 2002, Phil served as Manager and Regional Director for First American’s National Commercial Division operation located in Chicago, Illinois. In 2002, Phil became responsible for establishing and directing operational strategies for First American’s newly formed National Commercial Services (“NCS”) division on a nationwide basis. In 2004, Phil was promoted to Director of Operations for NCS. Phil has presented at many California Land Title Association and other state title association seminars, conventions and meetings around the country, as well as for American Land Title Association functions. When the right opportunity arose to re-engage with customers at the transaction level in 2008, Phil returned to Northern California, where he currently serves as NCS West States Senior Division Underwriter and Senior National Underwriter, providing leadership in all areas of underwriting, employee and customer education, and overall business strategies.
